SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION RULES 

  1. All applicants must be children or grandchildren of a Corrections employee from an active, eligible county or member, or children or grandchildren of an active, eligible Platinum member of the New Jersey County Jail Wardens Association.
  2. Only member counties who have been represented at a minimum of 25% of the regular monthly meetings (from June to June) are eligible to submit applications.
  3. Only five (5) scholarships of $1,000.00 each (total of $5,000.00) will be awarded and no county will receive more than one association scholarship. If less than five (5) applications are received the total funding for scholarships ($5,000.00) will be evenly divided among the eligible applicants.
  4. Additional vendor scholarships may be awarded based on annual scholarship donations.

  5. Only 2024 high school graduates are eligible.

  6. Please include current grade point average and civic and/or volunteer contributions.

  7. A typewritten or computer generated essay of not less than 500, or more than 700 words on the following topic is required: “The social impact of a college education in today’s society.

  1. Attach the essay to this form and return it to Warden Karen Taylor, NJCJWA Scholarship Committee Chairman for submittal to the Executive Board on or before August 31, 2024.

  2. It is the endorsing members responsibility to submit all essays with the completed form to the Chairman no later than August 31, 2024.

  1. Winners will be announced at the 2022 NJCJWA October Monthly Meeting.

Please note - no essays will be returned. All decisions of the executive board will be final.

Incomplete applications are NOT eligible and will not be considered.
