Information regarding the scholarship to the National Jail
Leadership Command Academy (NJLCA) at Sam Houston State
University in Huntsville, Texas.
Scholarships to the NJLCA will be awarded as follows:
- Three (3) scholarships to be awarded each year to
qualified N.J. County Jail corrections supervisors
- Scholarship to cover cost of training, meals, and
lodging ($1,560 each scholarship)
- Airfare costs are NOT included in this scholarship. As
such, each Warden/Director should assist his/her scholarship
recipient in obtaining funding for airfare
- Award recipients will be selected by Advisory Committee
members of the National Jail Leadership Command Academy
(NJLCA)
- Scholarship awards will be rotated amongst counties
(must obviously submit a scholarship application to be
considered)
Please have eligible staff complete the attached scholarship
application, as well as, the attached NJLCA application.

Target Audience:
- Mid-level managers (goal is succession planning)
Scholarship includes tuition:
- $1,560 per person (double occupancy – will share room
with another class participant)
- Award winner can opt to upgrade to single occupancy at
their own cost (extra $200)
- Fee includes training materials, lodging, and meals
